Great news for football in Chesham today, as Chesham United are celebrating receiving £10,000 of grant funding from the Premier League to help pay for the long list of safety measures that we have put in place for the restart of football and safe return of supporters to the stadium.
The Matchday Support Fund grant has helped Chesham United put in place measures that will make the ground safer for the 2020/21 season given the challenges caused by COVID-19. It will pay for all of our COVID sanitiser stations inside the ground, changing areas and bar, plus at all entrances to the Meadow as well as upgrading the supply of hot water to the toilets and kitchen in the Ryan Moran Stand, barriers for the clubhouse, new lights outside the turnstiles and repairs to all the pitch side barriers. And so much more that we haven’t got space here to list.
The Matchday Support Fund is managed by the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF), which is financed by the Premier League and supports non-league and Women’s Football Pyramid clubs with the cost of improvements to their grounds. The Matchday Support Fund follows the recent Pitch and Club Preparation Funds, which saw £8.7m in grants awarded by the Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation to prepare the country’s playing surfaces and facilities for the return of football.
