A very brief note this Christmas Eve to wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas.
This time last year we were faced with no football due to covid-19, but we were optimistic that 2021 would bring an end to the pandemic and normality would return, but it somehow did not turn out that way and we once again go into the new year with so much uncertainty.
On the field we have managed to play plenty of football this season and I remain hopeful that this will continue, we know there are restrictions in place in Scotland and Wales and there is a danger that England may follow suit after Boxing Day, but we remain optimistic that, even with some sort of fire break for a couple of weeks, the season will play out to an end and we will at last see some promotion and relegation at our level of the game.
With than in mind, I remain excited by how the team is starting to gel and am looking forward to what I believe will be an exciting second half to the season as we look to be in the hunt for the play-offs and a push for promotion. All being well that journey will continue on Monday with a local derby at Kings Langley, no Boxing Day match this year which gives everyone the chance to have that extra mince pie on the big day itself and still be fit and raring to go for the game.
To me, one of the best parts about the last twelve months has been the fact that we did at last manage to build our relationship with the Bucks Mind charity and have so far been able to contribute a fantastic amount of money to this cause, and we will continue to do so. I am also pleased to report that this morning our Bar Manager, Tanya, delivered a wonderful Christmas Hamper to our gateman George Adams who came home from hospital this week, a big thank you to everyone who donated – we can’t wait to welcome George back to The Meadow sometime soon. Likewise to popular supporter Bryn Wallis who also came out of hospital yesterday in time for Christmas, great news.
Thank you to our large number of volunteers who complete so many tasks for the club and never are seen or mentioned by name. The club would not survive without you.
Finally thank you our wonderful supporters for your support whilst standing or sitting giving such good vocal noise through all weathers, have a wonderful Christmas and please Stay Safe – Stay Well.
