Ahead of tonight’s draw I wanted to say a public thank you to everyone that attended Saturday’s magnificent FA Cup win against Yeovil Town and a very special thank you to the scores of volunteers that made the day run so smoothly.

The FA Cup is about drama and creating memories. If you were to write a script for the television you would have the underdogs winning the match in time added-on, sparking wild scenes of celebration amongst the fans – and that is exactly what we had on Saturday. Words cannot express how proud I was to be Chairman of Chesham United the moment that ball hit the net.

After a few anxious moments the final whistle blew, and the terraces emptied with smiling faces heading out into the town to celebrate in the pubs and restaurants of Chesham. It was wonderful to see, and it convinced me that all the talk of the town having the potential to have a club playing at a higher level is not just talk. It is a reality and something the Board and I will continue to build upon, with being a mid-table National South side being just another step on the journey, and not the pinnacle of our aspirations.

We cannot do any of this without the backing of our supporters, the local businesses that partner with us and the community at large that has embraced the football club recently, boosting our crowds to over 1,000 week-in and week-out, unimaginable just 12 months ago. Days like Saturday do not come around often, but they are certainly becoming more frequent. I am sure, like me, you are looking forward to the draw for the next round, live on BBC2 at 7.00pm tonight, and let’s hope it sets up another big day that will raise the profile of not just the club, but the town of Chesham. I, along with other club officials and volunteers, will be watching the draw at the clubhouse, open from 6.30pm, so why not come along and join us as we discover our next opponents.

Thank you for your support, you are wonderful and you did us proud on Saturday with your vociferous and good-natured support.
