The club are very saddened to hear of the passing of John West who died peacefully at his home on Tuesday 11th October at the age of 89.

John was a lifelong supporter of the club having first started watching Chesham United when his father brought him to The Meadow when he was 5 years old. John also served on the club’s Committee for a total of 22 years from 1962 to 1984 and was therefore involved at the time of the team’s appearance at Wembley in 1968, an occasion which remained amongst his most favourite memories.

Consequently, he also wrote the introduction to the book “The Journey to Wembley” in which he highlighted the effect and impact upon both the town and the club at that time. In more recent years John could usually be seen at The Meadow watching and supporting Chesham United from under the Ryan Moran Stand and he will be sadly missed.

The funeral will take place on Friday 11th November 2pm at St. Georges Church, Tyler’s Hill, to be followed by the committal at 3.30pm at The Chilterns Crematorium, Amersham.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to his daughters, Carol, Helen and Sue and their respective families at this sad time
