Chesham United Man of the Match: Bradley Clayton
Chesham got back to winning ways with an ultimately comfortable win. With a man advantage for almost all the game, Chesham dominated the afternoon and always looked likely winners after breaking the deadlock midway through the second half. Chesham’s starting line-up was again unchanged, with Ryan Blake and Jerri Maja returning on the bench.
Chesham made a strong start and in the fourth minute Dave Pearce took a corner low towards the near post, Steve Brown dummied and Billy Adcock’s shot was tipped over by keeper Alex Tokarczyk. Two minutes later the visitors’ Dean Hitchcock kicked out at Adam Martin as both players lay on the ground, leaving the referee with no choice but to show a straight red card. Chesham continued to push forward and Dave Pearce forced a good save from Tokarczyk after a neat interchange with Jeanmal Prosper, then a Gary Connolly clearance hit Jefferson Louis and could have gone anywhere but landed just wide. Jefferson Louis glanced a header wide from a Dave Pearce free kick, then the visitors had their first moment of danger when Jorell Johnson just failed to connect when a Jacob Cook corner was flicked on. Just after the half-hour mark Jeanmal Prosper’s diagonal ball was hit first-time by Eoin Casey but the ball flew just wide. Shortly before half-time Chesham appeared to have taken the lead when Bradley Clayton’s shot was fumbled by Tokarczyk, Dave Pearce tapped the loose ball over the line but the referee thought he had seen a foul and booked Pearce.
Chesham continued to press early in the second half, Steve Brown having a header cleared off the line and Bradley Clayton firing in a shot that was beaten away by Tokarczyk. Chesham finally made the breakthrough midway through the half, when Luke Warner-Eley’s left-wing cross was headed back across goal by Billy Adcock and Bradley Clayton hooked it into the net from close range. Kings Langley were forced to push forward and Chesham took advantage to add a second on 81 minutes. A superb through pass by Kieran Murphy split the visitors’ defence and Ryan Blake ran through to net his first league goal of the season. Two minutes later Chesham wrapped up the points with a third goal, when a neat move down the right ended with Jeanmal Prosper having a shot blocked and Bradley Clayton lifted the loose ball into the far top corner of the net.
