Chesham United Man of the Match: Luke Warner-Eley
The first meeting of these two teams this season was memorable for Chesham fans for all the wrong reasons. However this return fixture was hardly memorable for anything at all as these two teams cancelled each other out. There were three changes to the Chesham side with Ronny Mfinda, Bradley Clayton and Eoin Casey coming in for Billy Adcock, Dave Pearce and Jerri Maja.
The visitors came closest to scoring in the fifth minute, when Mayowa Balogun’s free kick from wide on the left was side-footed against the post by Jordan Ajanlekoko. Chesham began to get in the game, Bradley Clayton working himself a shooting chance but hitting the ball straight at keeper Ravan Constable. Midway through the half Ryan Blake shot from the edge of the area and the ball flew over the bar, the referee giving a goal kick although Chesham players thought there was a deflection. Towards half-time Chesham produced some neat moves, and Jefferson Louis got on the end of a James Hammond cross but Constable was able to dive to his left to save. Shortly afterwards the keeper dealt with Bradley Clayton’s shot, then Ryan Blake shot high and wide from he left edge of the area. Beaconsfield came back towards half-time and Omar Vassell’s shot was deflected wide, then from the resulting corner Ben Goode spread himself to save at the feet of Jordan Ajanlekoko.
In the second half Chesham attempted to play passing football but rarely stretched the visitors’ defence. Just after the hour mark a neat move involving Eoin Casey and Ryan Blake led to Jefferson Louis shooting powerfully but just over the bar. Beaconsfield’s best chance of the half came shortly afterwards, when Bajram Pashaj crossed to Louis Stead whose looping header landed on the roof of the net. Soon afterwards Ronny Mfinda’s pass found Ryan Blake in space on the left but Constable came out to block. In the later stages Beaconsfield’s more direct approach began to take over but Chesham’s defence looked solid, but with little action at either end the game soon petered out into a dull draw.
