Very brief notes from me this week as I lie on my sickbed still feeling dreadful from the illness I have picked up, which whilst being great as a diet, has left me unable to do or think about much this week. Not even maintaining our unbeaten run with a draw at Bath City last weekend can get me going.

The game at Bath was another hard-earned point on a very difficult pitch, but in truth we looked the better side for much of the game and can justifiably feel as though we could have come away with more. The support down in Bath was fantastic once again, I know many people made a weekend of it, in what is a beautiful city. The ground itself has the characteristics of a proper old school football stadium, but like our own, must come with significant challenges & costs to maintain.ne

On Tuesday night we were due to host Salisbury, but as soon as the rain came after the women’s team had played on Sunday and the forecast for monsoon weather up until Tuesday, we were just unable to get the game played and following a pitch inspection on Monday, I’m glad that the league, match referee & the two sides took the sensible option to saving our opponents a wasted journey and allow everyone to make alternative plans for training.

Tomorrow we travel to play Chelmsford City, a side we only played at The Meadow a couple of weeks ago in a game that finished 2-2. Both sides will be looking to go one better at the weekend and as always your support will be appreciated.

There is still plenty going on around the club and it is when you are not well yourself that you appreciate having so many good people around you. Thank you for your support, I will be back next week with the usual more detailed update.
