This weekend we are off on our travels as we cross the border into Wales for a league clash with Merthyr Town for what promises to be another huge match in our push for promotion at the end of the season. We do have a coach running with very few places still available, leaving The Meadow at 9.00am, please contact secretary@cheshamunited.co.uk if you would like to enquire about coach spaces.
Even if not on the coach, if you are at a loss for what to do tomorrow, I strongly recommend that you consider the trip across the River Severn – I know the team will appreciate your support and I can assure you you will enjoy the absolutely fantastic hospitality of Merthyr Town Football Club. Despite the distance, it is a favourite away trip for many supporters, and with so much still at stake in the league, it has the making of a fantastic day out (or weekend if you choose to extend your stay).
Last Saturday we continued to apply the pressure on the two sides above us in the league with a comfortable 2-0 win over Hendon. After the game we had our club Race Night in the The Chess Suite, which proved to be a huge success and thoroughly enjoyed by the 100+ people that attended. I know some attendees came away from the tote table pretty well-off after some successful betting, but it was also a very good night for us as we raised funds for the Ladies and Youth sections, as well as for our players injury benevolent fund. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make that happen. It proved that we can act as one club to put on exceptional events, so it is on to the next one…
I am delighted to say that tickets for our charity choir concert are now on sale. We are very privileged to have the legendary Treorchy Male Choir visiting Chesham to perform at St Mary’s Church on Saturday 17th June. For 130 years the Treorchy Male Choir has been recognised as one of the greatest choral ensembles of all time and has given Royal Command Performances, appeared alongside international entertainers and undertaken an enviable number of tours around the world. I have been privileged to sing with them this week and witness them perform a number of times and believe me, you will be moved by their performance. We are restricted to 250 tickets, priced at £25 each with all proceeds going to our charity partner Bucks Mind. Tickets are available from here.
Shorter notes this week as I have already arrived in Wales, my homeland, ahead of tomorrow’s game. I hope to see many of you here, safe journey to all of those that are travelling.
Thank you for your support
