Chesham United FC

UPDATED – Monday 1st October 2018 2pm

Chesham United Football Club has this weekend parted company with manager Jon Meakes following a hugely disappointing run of league results that has seen the club fall to the bottom of the Southern League Premier Division South with just one point and two goals from eight league games.

Following the departure Chairman Brian McCarthy said: “In many ways it is a sad day, Jon has been part of the club for over 12 years, both when he was an assistant to Andy Leese and for the last 18 months as manager. During which he has been an integral part of a successful Chesham United over the past decade, enjoying promotion to the Southern Premier Division, taking us to a Southern Premier Division play-off final and creating some of the very best FA Cup memories in recent years. But all good things must come to an end, and the Board felt it was right to discuss the situation with Jon now, and make a fresh start.

I am sure the supporters would like to join me in wishing Jon all the very best for the future, and no doubt he will succeed in the next challenge he takes on. It has been a difficult start to the season, not helped by wretched luck with injuries, but we need now to start to look forward to the season ahead with optimism, unity and belief for a successful future.

Mark Swales will take over the reins on an interim basis starting with tomorrow night’s clash with Aylesbury United whilst the Board meet to decide on a more permanent arrangement for the remainder of the season and beyond. Mark is in communication with both the club board and the playing squad to enable a smooth transition.

Chesham United invite applications to take on the role of First Team Manager. We are looking for an ambitious, determined individual with management experience to take on the role.
