Seven full first team friendlies plus a Chesham XI have been confirmed as the Generals ramp up preparations for the 2022-2023 Southern League Premier Division South season.

A big welcome to The Meadow. This afternoon, we welcome the players, officials and supporters of Hayes & Yeading for this Pitching In Southern League Premier Division fixture.

This issue is unfortunately online only, due to a combination of factors; Christmas printing timescales, COVID-19 cases across the league and possible restrictions meant that we made the decision to not risk printing programmes for this fixture and then the game being postponed which would have meant a significant financial loss to the club.

We will though be back to a printed copy for our next home game v Tiverton which will in fact be a double edition with the Hungerford Berks & Bucks tie on the Tuesday night. There is a chance we will be able to print some copies of today’s programme after the game, if you would be interested in a copy please let us know AT press@cheshamunited.co.uk in the next few days.

An all-star line-up of celebrities will be taking part in a charity football match at the Meadow to support Buckinghamshire Mind – the county’s leading mental health charity on Sunday 19th September 2021.

Those set to pitch their football skills against each other include I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here winner Jaqueline Jossa and soap legend Jake Wood, as well as reality TV stars Calum Best, Dan Osborne and James Argent with more set to be announced in the coming weeks.

They will be joined the world’s most popular freestylers, Billy Wingrove and Jeremy Lynch, otherwise known as F2Freestylers who will be showing their skills on the pitch alongside ex-professionals Lee Trundle, Paul Konchesky and Jamie O’Hara at The Meadow, home of Chesham United.

Sellebrity Soccer’s co-founder Kevin Cooper, said: “After a very crazy and tough world over the last 18 months, we are pleased to now bring Sellebrity Soccer to non-league clubs and to support the clubs and their local charities too.

We are very excited to be coming to Chesham United FC to bring some much-needed feel-good factor with a very exciting celebrity match but more importantly help raise funds for Bucks Mind.

Let’s make this a special day, so come along and support us”

Chesham United Chairman, Peter Brown, said: “We are excited to host this celebrity match, which is new territory for us. Hopefully it’s a great success and it’s an event we can look to add to the calendar year on year.

As a football club it is so important that we play our part in the community, above and beyond just fielding a semi-professional team every Saturday for the paying spectators, which is why I am so excited by the prospect of this game as part of our partnership with Buckinghamshire Mind.

Mental well-being has been a hidden concern for a long time amongst people of all ages and the current pandemic has only heightened the problem and it is so important that we take this opportunity to help people to cope with their own issues and spread the message that it is ok to talk about your concerns.”

General’s fans who have purchased their Season Tickets for the 2021/22 season will be able to use their free entry to pre-season friendlies starting with the Wycombe game on Friday night.

The Club are delighted that currently over 130 fans have snapped up Season Tickets during our Early Bird period and have been working hard to make sure they’re all available for collection as soon as possible.

For the Wycombe and Watford friendlies, entry will be via a specific turnstile (signposted on the night, stewards will also be on hand) where season ticket holders will be admitted and checked off against the list- the actual printed season tickets will not be available until the Wealdstone game (Tues 27th) because of printing demands.

From the Wealdstone game, we will arrange and communicate a collection point before the remaining pre-season games to allow supporters to pick-up their Season Tickets ahead of the new campaign.

For anyone that is not able to collect at one of the pre-season games, we will issue further collection slots closer to the time.

What Do You Need To Bring?
Please remember to bring some identification when you collect your season ticket. Someone else can collect your Season Ticket on your behalf if you have contacted the club in advance, please email seasontickets@cheshamunited.co.uk

We are pleased to confirm that we will be able to show Saturday’s FA Trophy Third Round tie against Torquay United via a live web stream. We are massively disappointed that our supporters cannot be with us on Saturday to watch a tough tie against the top Non League side in England.

As current regulations in the Tier system mean the match must be played behind closed doors, supporters of both clubs will still be able to follow every kick from afar for a fee of £8.

Following the departure Chairman Peter Brown said “As a club we are hugely disappointed not to be able to play one of our biggest games of the season cheered on by what I am sure would have been a large and supportive crowd. The financial implications are another blow in these most difficult of times, but the fact that we are able to offer a live streaming service does at least mean that fans can get to watch the action from the safety of their own homes and if we can get enough people to tune in it will provide some compensation for the lost revenue. Please do support the live stream if you can, although we will miss having you on the terraces, it will help the club and I am sure it will be a game worthy of the small charge.”

Click here to purchase the live stream for Chesham United v Torquay United.

We also have a limited number of match programmes available to purchase for £2.00 plus postage, these are available by emailing commercial@cheshamunited.co.uk

The stream will feature commentary from the voice of CWSportRadio – the legend that is ‘Motty’s Mic’ Chris Walker and coverage will start around 10-15 minutes before kick-off.

At the beginning of November we were drawn away to Weston Super Mare, also of the Southern Premier Division South in the FA Trophy First Round Proper. This game date was confirmed earlier in November for the 8th December with a 7.45pm KO.

Unfortunately however, next week’s tie at Weston Super Mare FC will unfortunately have to be played behind closed doors.

The North Somerset Council area has unfortunately been placed in Tier 3 of the UK Government’s new COVID restrictions, this means that Weston are currently unable to play in front of crowds meaning that the game must be played behind closed doors. Unfortunately this is a decision outside of our control and we understand that our fans will be bitterly disappointed that they won’t be there to cheer the Generals on.

We are working hard on trying to find way to bring the game to the fans but these will need to be in conjunction with Weston and within the FA Trophy rules.

The club would like to thank everyone for their understanding and patience during these difficult times.

Our home game v Taunton Town, which was due to be this Saturday 27th but has been postponed due to Taunton’s FA Cup 4QR progress, has been rescheduled to be played Tuesday 1st December.

This game and all home midweek games for the foreseeable future will kick off at 7.30pm, this is due to the Government’s 10pm curfew for hospitality businesses meaning the Chess Suite has to be closed completely by 10pm.

We have been drawn at home against Whyteleafe of the Isthmian League Division One South East in the FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round.

The game will be played on 31st October with a 3pm KO at the Meadow, all ties in the Qualifying Rounds go straight to penalties if the tie is level at full time.

The club will be running a team coach to the upcoming game against Wimborne Town on Saturday 26th September. There will be a limited number of seats available.

The coach to Wimborne leaves at 11am. £15 for Trust Members, £20 for Non Members.

To book a seat contact Mike Dragisic at secretary@cheshamunited.co.uk

Reminder: You will need to have a ticket to the match to travel, these can be obtained by calling Wimborne in advance, the club will be operating Coronavirus checks including temperature checks prior to the coach departing.

We have been drawn away against Hastings United of the Isthmian League Division One South East in the FA Cup First Qualifying Round.

The game will be played on 22nd September with a 7.45pm KO at the Pilot Field (Elphinstone Road, TN34 2AX), all ties in the Qualifying Rounds go straight to penalties if the tie is level at full time.

Admission is by pre-purchased ticket only from Hastings website, there is a separate allocation of 60 tickets for Generals fans, remember to choose a ticket with Away in front of it (Away Adult, Away Concession, etc). £12 for adults, £8 for concessions (OAP/Students) and £1 for Under-16’s (with parental supervision) – Hastings United Ticket Portal
