Chesham United Football Club is delighted to announce that this week they have finalised an agreement to commence a new, professionally run, Youth Academy based out of the club, starting from September 2019.

Finance Director, Peter Brown, confirmed: “Negotiations have been going on for over 8 months now to establish a replacement for the previous academy that would be professionally run and prove successful in meeting our ambitions of offering the young community of Chesham and surrounding areas the opportunity to pursue their dream of playing football to the highest level possible, within a stable educational environment to obtain a BTEC qualification.

“We have suitable facilities here at The Meadow, as the senior football club in the area, and we have just been looking for the right partner to take the project forward. We now have that partner in place, more details will follow when the scheme is officially launched on 1st October 2018, but what I can say is that we expect trials to begin during October half term this year and when it commences next year the students will be able to compete in a league with other academies managed by the same company.

“These are exciting times for the club, and the academy is an integral part of the long-term plan to make the club sustainable and develop our own crop of first team players from the pool of talent that exists in the local area. Key to achieving a self-sustainable club remains the plans to move the club to a new modern ground within the area which will provide the facilities and resources to match our ambition. Although there is no news or developments that we are in a position to share currently, I can assure supporters that the move is still very much on the agenda and as a Board we look forward to announcing any news as and when we are in a position to go public.”
