Recap

Chesham slid down to 16th in the table after this defeat which means they have only taken one point from their last four games.  Chesham took an early lead and somehow were still ahead with twelve minutes to go, but eventually the home side’s pressure paid off with two goals in five minutes. There was only one change to the starting line-up, as Connor Stevens was replaced by Jack Connors started in his place although he was forced to go off injured after half an hour.  The home side made the stronger start and thought they had taken the lead in the seventh minute, when Darren McQueen’s close-range effort was parried by Dillon Addai and Connor Roberts cleared with the linesman ruling that it had not crossed the line.  The pitch had taken a lot of rain overnight and cut up quickly, but both sides tried to play a passing game.  Chesham moved the ball well but the home defence remained largely untroubled.  However on 27 minutes a long crossfield ball found Connor Roberts on the right, and he set up Alex Lafleur who finished smartly to give Chesham the lead. As half-time approached Hornchurch came close when Angelo Balanta sent Sean Scammell clear but Dillon Addai came out to block.  In stoppage time Dillon Addai stretched to keep out a header by Nathan Bertram-Cooper from a Charlee Adams corner.

In the second half the home side took control of the game.  Substitute Myles Weston was denied in a goalmouth scramble, then a long-range effort from Harry Gibbs was deflected behind for a corner.    However Chesham regrouped and the home side failed to carve out another chance until the 78th minute, when Charlie Pegrum crossed from the left and sub Tommy Wood headed in to level the scores.  Two minutes later Callum Adebiyi caught Darren McQueen as they both went for a bouncing ball in the centre circle, and Adebiyi was shown a second yellow card.  Three minutes later McQueen fired in a shot that Dillon Addai parried but could not hold and Charlie Pegrum netted the loose ball.  Chesham never looked like getting back into the game and deep into stoppage time Dillon Addai had to dive to his right to keep out another long-range effort.
