Recap
Chesham finished this match disappointed not to have won, after leading for more than 70 minutes against the league’s bottom club. This was a poor game but Chesham were looking comfortable until the home side staged a late rally to earn a point and nearly all three. Chesham made two changes to the eleven that started against Yeovil, Ashley Lodge and Samson Esan replacing Jack Connors and Joe Grant.
Chesham made a positive start with Mitchell Weiss setting up Alex Lafleur who fired the ball across goal from the left edge of the area. In the next minute Weiss won possession on the left and set up Samson Esan, who ran on to shoot past keeper Will Buse into the far corner of the net to give Chesham the lead. That was virtually the only action of note in a dull first half. Weymouth’s Calvin Brooks fired a low cross-shot that was blocked at the expense of a corner, but otherwise Chesham’s defence was hardly threatened.
Early in the second half an Alex Lafleur corner ran loose to T’Sharne Gallimore who shot high and wide. Midway through the half Chesham had a good spell, and Samson Esan broke away on the left and shot across the face of goal. Chesham won a free kick in a dangerous position but Jack Connors shot straight at Buse, then Callum Adebiyi’s header from a Connors corner was fisted away by Buse. In the next minute a Jack Connors shot was blocked and the ball came to Nathan Minhas but Buse came out and parried the resulting shot. Weymouth had shown nothing in attack but equalised with six minutes to go, when a free kick ran loose in the Chesham area and Ben Goode made two smart saves but could not keep out Charlie Rowan’s follow-up. The goal revived the home side who finished the game on top, and in stoppage time Jaiden Bartolo crossed from the left to Ben Greenwood but Ben Goode dived smartly to his right to keep out the resulting header.
