Recap

Chesham went down to their fourth defeat in five home games and failed to score for the first time in the league.  This was a forgettable encounter in which the visitors took the lead early in the second half and afterwards concentrated on keeping Chesham out. Chesham made six changes in all, with Ben Goode returning in goal and Lewis Rolfe, Jack Cawley, T’Sharne Gallimore, Omar Rowe and Mitchell Weiss all promoted from the bench.

Bath came into the game in nineteenth place in the league but had the first effort on goal in the opening minute.  Ben Goode came out of his goal to collect a through ball but lost out to Scott Wilson, who lobbed the ball towards the unguarded net from a tight angle but missed the target.  Chesham had the better chances in the rest of a dull first half, and in the tenth minute Omar Rowe’s through ball sent Nathan Minhas clear but Harvey Wiles-Richards came out to block.  Rowe then tried a left-foot curling shot which was just wide, but most of the rest of the half was notable only for a lack of incident.  Towards half-time Chesham began to find some fluency, and Lewis Rolfe headed over the bar from a Mitchell Weiss cross.

Early in the second half a rare Bath attack ended with Ben Goode tipping a powerful shot from Jordan Alves over the bar.  Latrell Humphrey-Ewers took the resulting corner and Alves stole in at the near post to head into the net for the game’s only goal.  Chesham came back and Jack Cawley headed an Omar Rowe corner across goal to Mitchell Weiss whose shot was blocked.  Just after the hour mark Avan Jones crossed low from the right, Nathan Minhas controlled and shot but his effort came back off the near post.  Devonte Aransibia then replaced Jones and crossed from the right to Nathan Minhas, who had a free header but nodded the ball over the bar.  Bath were content to sit on their lead, bringing on an extra defender and wasting time at every opportunity.  Towards the end Devonte Aransibia again crossed from the right but Joe Grant could only head over the bar, before keeper Harvey Wiles-Richards was belatedly booked for persistent time-wasting.  Chesham forced a couple of scrambles in the opposition penalty area late on, but the visiting defence held out.
