Recap
A Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick hat-trick saw Chesham through to a comfortable win in this rearranged fixture. After ten minutes Chesham were already a goal up against ten men and cruising, and the evening went from bad to worse for the home side as they finished the game trying to keep the score down with a two-man disadvantage. Lesley Duru started on the left with Lewis Rolfe on the right of the three centre backs, replacing Eoin Casey. The other three changes saw Jordan Gibbons, Ricardo German and Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick come in for T’Sharne Gallimore, Zak Joseph and Josh Allen.
Chesham made a dream start with a goal in the second minute, when Ricardo German laid off Kieran Murphy’s through ball into the path of Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick who scored with a low drive that keeper George Legg fumbled into the net. Things got even worse for the home side seven minutes later, when defender Abdul Osman was shown a straight red card after catching Jordan Gibbons in the face with a high boot. Hanwell were still in the game at this stage, and on 20 minutes Zaki Oualah did well to hold a rising drive from Elliot Benyon. Chesham had more of the ball but rarely threatened, although Ricardo German’s run down the right ended with a shot that Legg dived to his right to save. Shortly afterwards a Chesham short corner routine ended with the ball being crossed to Lesley Duru who shot wide of the near post. However Chesham moved two goals in front on 36 minutes, when a long free kick from Zaki Oualah came to Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick whose shot from just inside the area gave Legg no chance. The home side caused problems when Chesham’s defence failed to deal with a Taylor Miles corner, but the ball hit a forward and rolled out for a goal kick. The half ended with a long-range drive from Harry Rush that was well struck but a couple of yards over the bar.
In the second half Chesham began to take control of the game as the man advantage took greater effect. However most of Chesham’s breaks forward came to nothing as the final pass was missing. Midway through the half Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick broke down the right but his shot was blocked, and the ball came to Harry Rush who shot just wide. However on 72 minutes the home side were reduced to nine men, when Dwayne Duncan was shown a straight red card for an ugly two-footed lunge at Hippolyte-Patrick. Chesham were now in total commend but only threatened when Jordan Edwards hit a free kick over the bar, then a rare attack from Hanwell saw a shot from sub Nebay Haile deflected away for a corner. In stoppage time Chesham finally scored a third, when Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick ran along the by-line from a short corner and netted with an angled drive.
