Recap
Chesham celebrated their title success with a win that stretches their lead at the top of the table to 19 points. Third-placed Salisbury dominated possession but their finishing was wayward and Chesham took the points with two quality goals. There were four changes to the starting line-up, two of which were enforced with Roddy Collins and Zak Joseph injured so Jack Connors and Jordan Edwards were recalled. The other changes saw Steve Brown replace Eoin Casey in defence and James Harding come in for Ricardo German up front.
Salisbury went on the attack from the start and had the first effort on goal in the eighth minute, Noah Coppin firing just wide after Callum Adebiyi had headed the ball out. However Chesham scored with their first serious attack two minutes later, when Alex Lafleur broke down the left and crossed low to the near post where Bradley Clayton touched the ball in. Salisbury had much of the ball but failed to carve out a real opportunity in the opening half. On 38 minutes Charlie Gunson shot across goal and past the far post, and that was the sum total of the first-half action.
Early in the second half Alex Lafleur broke into the Salisbury area but his angled shot was beaten away by keeper Ryan Gosney. At the other end Gunson again shot wide following a right-wing move, but Salisbury eventually found an equaliser on 65 minutes. Noah Coppin broke into the Chesham area and was brought down by Jack Connors, Coppin himself netting from the spot. Salisbury continued to press and Ryan Penny shot over from distance, but Chesham restored their lead o 75 minutes against the run of play. T’Sharne Gallimore had just come on as a substitute when he ran on to Alex Lafleur’s through pass and laid the ball off for Lafleur to drive into the far corner of the net. As the visitors threw players forward Chesham could have wrapped up the points when Ricardo German and Bradley Clayton combined to set up Lewis Rolfe who fired wide with only the keeper to beat. Late in the game Coppin set up Aaron McCreadie who miscued his shot high and wide, but Chesham came back with Ryan Upward crossing to the far post where Callum Adebiyi’s shot was cleared off the line.
