Recap
Chesham secured a comfortable win over mid-table Winchester and stretched their recent run to six wins and a draw in seven games. Chesham took control of the game from the start and were in command in the first half, and although the home side briefly threatened a comeback Chesham’s second goal on the hour killed the game off. There was only one change to the starting eleven, Ogo Obi coming in for Zak Joseph.
Chesham could have gone ahead after just 20 seconds when Ogo Obi’s shot was parried by home keeper Luke Cairney. Chesham dominated the early stages and Obi shot across goal after Bradley Clayton’s run was halted by a defender. However Chesham were not to be denied and took the lead when Ogo Obi pulled ball back from the by-line, Bradley Clayton’s shot was blocked and Ricardo German slammed home the loose ball. Chesham continued to dominate and on the half-hour Cairney dived to his right to save after Steve Brown got his head to a Callum Adebiyi long throw. As half-time approached Bradley Clayton won the ball in the Winchester half and shot but Cairney saved with his legs, then the home keeper stretched to his left to hold T’Sharne Gallimore’s shot from the edge of the area. In stoppage time Callum Adebiyi headed Bradley Clayton’s corner towards goal but Cairney produced a fine flying save to keep the ball out.
Early in the second half Cairney was called into action again, with a diving save to keep out a 30-yard free kick from Ogo Obi. However Winchester were starting to threaten, and won their first corner which Jamie Barron took and Simba Mlambo’s header came back off the bar. However Chesham added a second goal on the hour, when Bradley Clayton drilled in a free kick from the right touchline, Cairney pushed the ball away under pressure and Callum Adebiyi netted the loose ball. The home side never looked like getting back into the game and Chesham wrapped up the win with a third on 78 minutes. Lewis Rolfe and Alex Lafleur combined on the left, Lafleur drilled the ball across goal and Ogo Obi netted at the far post. Chesham were now in total command and Ogo Obi’s low cross was blocked by a combination of keeper and defender, then Zak Joseph pulled the ball back from the by-line and Jordan Edwards blazed over the bar from close range.
