Recap

Chesham eventually secured the win that keeps them top of the table after Ricardo German netted deep into stoppage time.  Chesham dominated the game for long periods although the home side still threatened on the break, but it looked as if Chesham would have to settle for a draw until one last attack produced the winner. Steve Brown was ruled out by the injury sustained in Saturday’s win over Dorchester, so Roddy Collins made his first start for over a year as one of the three central defenders.  There were two other changes, Ryan Upward and Jordan Edwards coming in for Harry Rush and Bradley Clayton.

Chesham made a bright start and forced a couple of early corners which the home defence managed to keep out.  Beaconsfield began to come into the game but there was little action at either end in the opening quarter.  Ricardo German had the first serious effort with tried a left-foot shot which went harmlessly wide, then at the other end Zidan Akers shot from distance but Zaki Oualah saved to his right.  Towards half-time Chesham began to get on top, and home keeper Matt Rowley stretched to tip over Alex Lafleur’s free kick.  Another Lafleur free kick was headed towards goal by Callum Adebiyi but the ball landed on top of the net, then a fine move set up Lewis Rolfe for a shot that Rowley parried.

Chesham went straight on the attack in the second half and the ball came to T’Sharne Gallimore whose shot flew well wide.  However two minutes later Ricardo German broke into the penalty area, cut inside and fired a left-foot shot into the roof of the net to give Chesham the lead.  Shortly afterwards Zak Joseph’s low cross just eluded the incoming Jordan Edwards.  Chesham still continued to move the ball well but the home side still looked dangerous on the break.  On 64 minutes Zak Joseph was on the by-line on the left, when he was pushed over from behind by Jacob Gardiner-Smith for a clear if unnecessary penalty.  However Rowley parried Ricardo German’s spot-kick, and German got to the loose ball but hooked it wide of the goal.  Beaconsfield made Chesham pay for that miss two minutes later, when James Dobson pulled the ball back from the by-line and Ryan Upward slid in only to knock the ball into his own net.  Chesham went back on the attack and Zak Joseph crossed low from the left to Lewis Rolfe who shot over.  Late in the game Ricardo German was again causing problems in the home area, Ben van Aurich got in a challenge and the ball appeared to be going in the net but Rowley stretched to tip over.  However Chesham finally got their reward in the fifth minute of stoppage time.  A long throw from Jack Connors was twice nodded on, Jordan Edwards hooked the ball against the far post from where it ran loose for Ricardo German to poke home from close range.
