Recap
Chesham went down to their third loss in eight days, and by their biggest margin of defeat since the Beaconsfield debacle five years ago. This is a difficult result to explain – Bracknell are clearly an improving team, but Chesham had as much of the ball but created few chances and gave away some soft goals. There were four changes from the midweek defeat at Swindon, with Avan Jones, T’Sharne Gallimore, Jordan Edwards and Ricardo German coming in for Connor Roberts, Harry Rush, Bruno Andrade and Ogo Obi.
Chesham got off to a disastrous start when Callum Adebiyi picked up a yellow card for a foul on the edge of the area, Nana Owusu took the free kick which Zaki Oualah looked to have covered but spilled the ball and Jordan Esprit tapped in. Chesham came back with Lewis Rolfe cutting in from the left and firing in a shot that flew just wide with the keeper beaten. At the other end Zaki Oualah made a flying save and Owusu tapped in the loose ball but was flagged offside. In the next minute Bracknell keeper Michael Eacott made a great save to deny Zak Joseph and Ricardo German stabbed the loose ball just wide. The game then went into a quiet spell until the 33rd minute when the home side scored their second. There seemed little danger when a long ball found Nana Owusu on the edge of the Chesham area, but he was able to bring the ball down and fire past Zaki Oualah without a defender getting in a challenge. Shortly before half-time Steve Brown headed towards goal from a Jordan Edwards corner, Eoin Casey tried to nod it on but the ball ran loose and was cleared.
Early in the second half Ricardo German headed just over after the home defence failed to clear a Jordan Edwards free kick. Chesham then reshuffled, taking off two defenders and bringing on Rhys Murrell-Williamson and Lucas Sinclair on the flanks. However Bracknell effectively sealed the win with a third goal midway through the half, when Joe Grant rose at the far post to head in a long free kick from Elliot Legg. Chesham continued to push forward but the home defence stood firm, and came close at the other end when George Knight headed over from a Liam Tack corner. In the second minute of stoppage time Knight got on the end of a long goal kick and set up Joe Grant who fired in the fourth. Chesham were denied even a consolation when Lucas Sinclair set up Ricardo German but Eacott came out to parry, then Eacott tipped a Jordan Edwards free kick over the bar.
