Recap

Chesham kept up their 100% record with a narrow but comfortable win against struggling Dorchester. After dominating the opening half Chesham took the lead shortly before the interval, and with the home side offering little in attack Chesham were able to hold on despite the loss of Connor Roberts to a red card midway through the second half. Chesham fielded two debutants in goalkeeper Zaki Oualah and striker Josh Allen, a 19-year-old on loan from Luton. The other two changes saw Jack Connors and Jordan Edwards come in for Lesley Duru and Harry Rush who were on the bench.

Chesham were soon into their stride on Dorchester’s artificial surface, and in the twelfth minute Josh Allen’s shot from out on the left was beaten away by home keeper Lloyd Thomas. Three minutes later a long throw ran loose in the home area and Eoin Casey’s shot on the turn forced a diving save from Thomas. Chesham continued to have more of the ball but without looking likely to score and the game went into a quiet spell. However on 40 minutes a fine move down the left led to the opening goal. Jordan Edwards and Josh Allen combined down the left, Allen pulled the ball back from the by-line towards the onrushing Connor Roberts at the near post, and the ball ended up in the net although the final touch was off the boot of home defender Jordan Ngalo.

Chesham continued to look the more dangerous after the interval, and Jack Connors moved forward to get on the end of Jordan Edwards’ low cross but could only volley over the bar from close range. Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick then cut in from the from the right and shot from an angle but Thomas just got a touch on the ball to turn it away for a corner. On 55 minutes Jordan Ngalo had the home side’s first shot but his long-range effort flew well over the bar. Chesham were looking comfortable but midway through the half were reduced to ten men, after Connor Roberts retaliated following a late challenge and was shown a straight red card. Seven minutes later Dorchester threatened for the first time, when Chesham’s defence failed to clear a long throw and Jack Wright hooked over the bar from close range. However Chesham came back and could have wrapped the game up in the last minute of normal time, when Harry Rush’s through ball sent Ricardo German clear to lift the ball past the advancing keeper but just wide of the post. The referee indicated ten minutes of stoppage time, and in the first extra minute Dorchester’s Harvey-Joe Bertrand squared to Jamie Hosking who side-footed straight at Zaki Oualah from close range. Chesham then had three more chances to grab a second but Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick hit one shot just wide, then another that clipped the outside of the post and Ricardo German broke clear but was denied by Thomas. In the tenth additional minute Jamie Hosking had Dorchester’s last effort which went harmlessly wide.  As the home side pushed forward they left Ricardo German one-on-one, and German broke away to fire past Thomas to seal the win.
