The club can confirm that defender Kieran Murphy has decided to leave to join Chertsey Town after 5 seasons at the Meadow.

Murphs made his debut for the club in August 2017, signing from Hampton & Richmond Borough, going on to make 168 appearances for the club and scoring 8 times including a brace in his final game for the club as well as picking up the Managers Player of the Year award in the 2019/20 season.

We’d like to thank Kieran for his service and wish him all the best for the future

Kieran has asked us to share the following message to supporters as he departs the Meadow

Five years have flown by when I look back. So many great memories and plenty of highs and lows thrown in. Ultimately, I didn’t manage to help the club to the promotion that we were striving towards but the club is in safe hands with Muzza and JD and a great set of players; get behind them this year and I really hope it will be a successful season. I would have loved to have stayed and have been part of things but it is time for a new challenge for me and one that allows me to be closer to home and family.

Thank you to everyone for their support over my time at Chesham as it is the support, the board members and the volunteers that make the club what it is. I will certainly be back in the future and look forward to watching a game from the other side of the fence.

A huge thank you to JD and Muzza for everything since they joined nearly four years ago: my love for playing has grown and I have learnt so much along the way. I believe they have bright futures in the game and hope they can achieve great things at Chesham which their hard work deserves.

To the rest of the back room team, thanks to you all. Always supportive and a great set of people, with special thanks to Matt for getting me on the pitch so many times in the last couple of years despite the odd niggle!

To the players, go and smash it this year! A brilliant dressing room and a great squad – I will miss being a part of it but I’ll be checking the scores with anticipation every Saturday at 5pm.

Thanks everyone! Up the Chesh!
Murph
