Slough Town vs Chesham United - Preview

This Monday 2nd January the First XI visit local rivals Slough Town for this Evo-Stik Southern Premier League fixture.

This is the first meeting of the two sides this season, last season Slough Town finished 17th with 57 points and there were three meetings of the two sides, a 1-1 draw in the home league fixture, a 3-0 defeat in an away Red Insure Cup First Round fixture and a 1-0 in the away league fixture.

Our visitors currently lie in 2nd place with 52 points from 24 games with 4 wins, a draw and a loss in their last 6, a 3-2 win over Hayes & Yeading United on the Tuesday 27th December being their last game. The day prior to that Chesham won 5-2 at home against Kings Langley, a brace from Barry Hayles, Mat Mitchel-King's first for the club, a Dave Pearce penalty and a header from Sam Youngs making up the goals.

Manager Andy Leese looks back at Kings Langley and forward to Slough Town.

"We were pleased with the performance on Boxing day as we got the points on the board and helped our goals for column in front of a decent crowd. Kings Langley were competitive early on, but we knew where they were vulnerable and started to exploit that in the second half. Barry was excellent leading the line and taking the weight off Brad, as well as scoring two composed goals at key times for us. We played as we know we can in the second half and took our chances to keep the points accumulating.

We have a tough afternoon in prospect at Slough on Monday. They are very consistent and have a resilience about them this year as they look to secure a top 5 spot. We will need to be at our best to pick up anything. Our away form has to improve in the second half of the season and we have been working on how best to do that. We picked up a few knocks on Monday but rest and treatment should see everyone available as we start a heavy schedule of fixtures for January

The support we had on Boxing day was excellent, and I hope to see you in good numbers at Slough for what should be a cracking game.

In the meantime best wishes to you all for a happy healthy and prosperous 2017.

Thanks for your support at home and away in 2016. A year to remember!

The Management team and the players."
