Burgess Hill 2 Chesham Utd 0. Biggleswade game postponed

Sunday 2nd November

Burgess Hill 2 Chesham Utd 0

This FA Trophy tie was always going to be a formidable task for Chesham. Burgess Hill have one of the best records in non league football this season at any level and The Hillians came out on top with a goal in each half, on a day when a number of other Evo-Stik Southern Premier League sides also exited the competition

Our scheduled opponents in the league for this Tuesday 4th November, Biggleswade Town, drew in the FA Trophy and so now have a replay. Chesham's Tuesday evening league match v Biggleswade is therefore postponed and the 1st XI's next game is now away at Corby Town this Saturday 8th November KO 15:00

Manager Andy Leese's commented

It was bitterly disappointing to exit the FA Trophy in the manner we did on Saturday. We simply did not follow the script after the opening 40 minutes when the game was even. We hit the post with a Darren Purse header and they had a couple of opportunities, but we undid the early work by conceding a goal that was avoidable. In the second half we simply did not do enough to warrant getting back into the game and the players have to take some responsibility for that. After the run we have been on it was hard to fathom the second half response, although credit to a Burgess Hill team that had only lost once this season and that to a Conference National club. We need to analyse last week and move on again, with a lot of football left to be played. No doubt the results last week will suit those in and around the club who want us to fail and who believe the season is over. Negativity is infectious and I could understand it if we were in the bottom 4, but football is not an exact science. We won't win every week. We work extremely hard to find consistency, and we would appreciate some backing, especially from within the club.
