This Monday 15th August the 1st XI meet Hitchin Town. The Generals will travel in confident mood with two successive wins under their belts but The Canaries - who Chesham have not beaten in the last four attempts - will be a stern test.
Our hosts had an excellent season last time out, finishing 3rd on 84 points and narrowly missing out in the play-offs to Hungerford, who went on to win the final and promotion to the National League South. Whilst Chesham were winning 3-0 v Dorchester Town on Saturday, Hitchin secured a 0-0 draw away at much fancied Kettering Town in a match which saw one player sent off for each side.
The venue, a favourite with many travelling supporters, is Top Field, Fishponds Road, Hitchin, SG5 1NU. Directions from Hitchin Town's website here
Manager Andy Leese's commented:
"We have very little time to recover before Monday night. Hitchin always present a stern test and they will be confident after what they achieved last season. We go there in good spirits and happy with our opening week's work.
"Hopefully we will have some support as we look to continue the decent start. We don’t have any injury issues, but we have the option of introducing one or two from the bench to keep our energy levels high"
