This Wednesday the 1st XI return to league action after five successive cup ties, and head for Frome Town in the first of two journeys south this week.
Our hosts are currently placed 8th with 28 points, two places higher and three points above Chesham, having played four games more. Having found themselves in the unaccustomed position of being amongst the early season pace setters with three wins from their first four starts, Frome then lost their way winning only two and losing seven of their next ten matches, including a run of five consecutive defeats from mid-September to early October. Since then The Robins have turned things round decisively and have only lost once in their last ten starts (all competitions), a 3-0 away defeat at Dorchester. Our hosts have won their last three and most recently, whilst Chesham were going down at Dulwich Hamlet, Frome progressed to the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy with a 1-0 win away at Hanwell Town of the Southern League Div One Central.
Chesham and Frome have played each other eight times in the last three seasons. Whilst The Generals held the upper hand with five wins and three draws in those encounters, most of Chesham's success has come at The Meadow with the away record showing three draws and just the one win in Somerset, a 4-1 victory back in the 2013/14 promotion chasing season. Last season's games at Frome both ended 1-1 with Curtis Ujah scoring for Chesham in the league whilst Sam Youngs hit Chesham's goal in the FA Trophy.
There is a coach travelling to Frome Town departing The Meadow at 3.30pm, fare Supporters Trust Members £15, Non Members £20. If you wish to travel please inform Brian McCarthy either on 01442 871750 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. For those travelling independently the venue is Frome Town AFC, Blindmans Brewery Stadium, Berkley Road, Frome Somerset BA11 2EH
Chesham Utd Manager Andy Leese commented ahead of Wednesday evening's kick off:
"Frome will provide a very stiff test. They are more consistent this year and are winning games. It is always a difficult place to play, and we need to make sure we are ready to perform.
"We may have injured players back, and we may well look to add to the squad to rectify our issues in the last third of the pitch."
