This Saturday 1st October we are pleased to welcome supporters, players and officials of Staines Town to the Meadow for this FA Cup Third Qualifying Round match. We also welcome and thank our Match Sponsor Atlas Commercial Consultants and our Match Ball Sponsor Martyn Pritchard
Our vistors play in the Ryman Isthmian League Premier Division and are currently placed 8th with 15 points from 10 matches. Returning to The Meadow with Staines Town is Manager Johnson Hippolyte, who both played for and started his coaching career at Chesham Utd in season 1999/2000
In their most recent matches The Swans drew 1-1 away at 2nd placed Havant & Waterlooville last Saturday and then won 1-0 away at Leatherhead in midweek. For their part, Chesham beat Cirencester Town 3-0 on Saturday and won again on Tuesday 27th, 3-1 at home v Cambridge City. Staines come to The Meadow in excellent recent form. Following a slow start with three league defeats in their first five The Swans have turned things around and are unbeaten in their last eight with six wins and two draws (all competitions)
Chesham progressed to this round via a 5-0 win over Saffron Walden Town, followed by the 2-1 replay win over Sevenoaks Town, the first match at Sevenoaks having been drawn 2-2. Staines are here courtesy of a 4-0 home win v Godalming, who were bottom of The Ryman Div One South, followed by another home win: this time a notable 1-0 giant-killing v neighbouring Maidenhead Utd who top the National League South
So here we go again. It's the FA Cup, right on your doorstep, with two closely matched sides and the visitors on a great run. Don't miss this one - we hope to welcome a good no of Staines fans to add to the atmosphere but it's YOUR support that really does make a difference to the team on the day, so let's see and hear plenty of you as The Generals attempt to make it through to 4RQ
Admission Adults - £10, Concessions (over 65s, students with ID) - £8, Under 16s - £3, Under 12s - £1. Programme £2.50. Free Parking. Click here for directions and parking information
Manager Andy Leese commented ahead of Saturday's kick off:
"We are looking forward to tomorrow's FA Cup tie against Staines Town, having consolidated our League position this week. It will be our toughest challenge of the season to date. Staines are well organized, very competitive and in good form, with some experienced players who we will need to keep an eye on. We need to utilize our squad as we have some injury challenges that may not be resolved in time for the game.
"We hope to add 22 year old defender Taylor McKenzie to the squad today. We tried to sign Taylor in the summer but it did not materialize. Taylor has been in the professional game with Tottenham, Sheffield Wednesday and most recently at Notts County, but he knows the Non League game having been out on loan. I hope we can get him enjoying his football again and if we can I am sure he will be an asset to the squad.
"Please try and get down to the game and make some noise as we look to try and progress to the next round"
