Tuesday 11th October
With Saturday's FA Cup tie between these sides being the main event of the week both sides shuffled the pack for this League Challenge Cup fixture, with Chesham making changes to all 11 starting positions from the team that drew with Merthyr Town at the weekend.
Gorniak gave The Generals a 1st minute lead with a shot from the edge of the area. Potters bar equalised with a shot smashed in off the bar, before Gorniak was fouled and scored the resultant penalty to restore Chesham's lead and make the HT score 2-1
The home side equalised from a free kick 10 minutes after the restart and almost took the lead immediately after, thwarted only by great work from Nolan in the Chesham goal. With chances continuing to come at both ends the score stayed at 2-2 until when deep into stoppage time with penalties looming, Gorniak bundled the ball home following a free kick to claim his hat trick and a last gasp victory for Chesham. A great win for The Generals on the night in a game that was a credit to both young sides

Manager Andy Leese commented:
"I know that Mani (Mani Asare, Reserve Team Manager) was delighted with the performance last night. Jon was with Mani and his team and felt the same. There were some mature performances that vindicate why we operate with a reserve team in the club.
"Some of the players will have earned the chance to be in the 1st team squad this month as we look to tackle a heavy month of games"
"This was a big night for me personally and the players, as we were given a chance to represent the 1st team & show everyone involved at the club that we could operate at this level.
"I have a great team around me in Hicham, Mo and Jose and we have built this team from scratch in July. To come away from home and win this game in the fashion we did tonight must go down as my proudest day in management"
Congratulations to the Reserves on their dramatic win, which will hopefully inspire supporters to come down to The Meadow and catch a Reserves match. Full credit also to Potters Bar Towns' own Reserves, who also stepped up equally well and contributed in full to an enormously entertaining game that could have gone either way
