This Saturday 27th August we are pleased to commence the August Bank Holiday weekend fixtures by welcoming supporters, players and officials of Weymouth FC to The Meadow for this Evo-Stik Southern Premier League match. We also welcome and thank our Match Ball Sponsor Ron Lee
Chesham have had the better of recent games v The Terras: sometimes against the form book. In late Feb 2015 Weymouth came to The Meadow very firmly in the promotion hunt in third place but were routed 7-2. Last season a Chesham Utd side who only chalked up four away league wins travelled to Weymouth, who were again in the promotion mix, and came away with a 4-1 victory. Then, in the final home game of last season a late solo run and strike from substitute Kelvin Bossman gave Chesham a 1-0 win.
The Generals are unbeaten since the opening game of the season, whilst our visitors have won two but lost three. Whilst Chesham were gaining deserved hard fought away points in draws at both Hitchin and Dunstable last week, Weymouth went down to successive 2-0 defeats away at Frome Town and then at home v St Neots
We look forwards to a good crowd, and a good atmosphere should be ensured. With Chesham looking to build on their recent solidity, and Weymouth needing to turn their last two results around it should be an intriguing afternoon at The Meadow. Be there, make some noise, and support The Generals!
Manager Andy Leese commented:
"We have had a good week's work on the training ground, following last Saturdays draw at Dunstable. It wasn't a pretty game to watch, but we were pleased with the first half performance and the all round solidity of the defending. It is all about accumulating points this early in the season.
"We needed the break this week as we prepare for a demanding weekend of football. Weymouth will be looking to avenge their last two League results, and we know they always present a benchmark of where you need to be if you want to be in the promotion challenge. Kings Langley will be confident after their start to life at this level. We need to match that and use the squad to ensure we keep energy levels high. The squad should be injury free, and they are in good spirits.
"Hopefully we will have some noisy support across the weekend as we look to continue the decent start."
