This Tuesday 25th October we are pleased to welcome supporters, players and officials of Kettering Town to The Meadow for this Evo-Stik Southern Premier League match, KO 19:45.

Kettering finished sixth last season. missing out on the play-offs by just one point. Our visitors won both games between these two sides last season, with 3-0 victories both home and away. In the first game, at Latimer Park in late November a league match was then a rare occurrence for a Utd side who were right in the thick of FA Cup, County Cup and FA Trophy action. Chesham started brightly but went behind after 20 minutes when Kettering scored a fortunate opener, then within 15 minutes The Generals conceded twice more which eventually killed the game.

At the return match at The Meadow in April Chesham were comprehensively beaten by an impressive Kettering side when two goals in the opening 15 minutes, both following excellent passing moves, virtually settled the game. Chesham lacked creativity on the day and when the odd chance did present itself The Generals were out of luck with some good blocks by the Kettering defence. The game was finally wrapped up in the 85th minute with a third goal.

Our visitors are currently 13th with 20 points and were winless at home in eight SPL starts this season until Saturday's 3-1 victory v Weymouth, when they trailed 1-0 but came back with three goals in the final twenty-five minutes. After a great start to September with four wins out of five (all competitions) Kettering then won only once in the next eight, an FA Cup 3RQ victory over Boston Utd following which they lost three and drew two before getting back to winning ways at the weekend. However, The Poppies have fared well on the road in the SPL and have four wins and just one defeat from six on their league travels. Chesham are undefeated in their last nine starts with two draws and seven wins, the latest result being the 1-0 victory away at Cinderford. Barring any FA Trophy replay, this is the team's final game at The Meadow before facing Peterborough Utd away in the FA Cup First Round on Nov 5th. Indeed, with a schedule of seven consecutive away matches ahead this is the last home game until Tuesday 22nd November, so let's get down to The Meadow in numbers and give The Generals some loud support as they look to build on Saturday's win!

Manager Andy Leese commented ahead of Tuesday evening's kick off:

"The three points at Cinderford on Saturday continued our good run of form since we lost at Hayes. We will be tested again on Tuesday night when Kettering visit the Meadow.

"They had a good win yesterday, and I expect them to be challenging next April. We will have Adam available after his suspension. It should be a good spectacle and I hope we have a decent crowd in for it."
