Chesham Utd v Cirencester Town Sat 24th Sept KO 15:00 Match Preview

Wednesday 21st September

This Saturday 24th September we are pleased to welcome supporters, players and officials of Cirencester Town to The Meadow for this Evo-Stik Southern Premier League match. We also welcome and thank our Match Sponsor Ron Lee, and our Match Ball Sponsor Glen Mulhern

The Centurions are currently 23rd with 7 points from 9 matches. In the sides' last league outings Chesham lost 1-0 away to Hayes & Yeading whilst Cirencester won 3-2 at home v Cinderford, with all the goals coming before half time. More recently, last weekend both sides were in FA Cup Second Qualifying Round action. Whilst Chesham were drawing away at Sevenoaks Cirencester were beaten 6-1 by at home by SPL rivals Banbury

Since gaining promotion to the Premier League, having won the championship of Div One South & West in season 2013/14, Cirencester have been something of a bogey team for The Generals. In four starts the Gloucestershire side have dealt Chesham 3-0 (twice) and 3-1 defeats, their only dropped points coming at home in season 2014/15. On that occasion they were leading 2-0 late in the game when goals from Ryan Blake on 89 minutes and Toby Little in 90+1 gave The Generals their sole point from the four encounters.

Our visitors need to secure points to get their season on track, whilst Chesham, with a job very well done in Tuesday's FA Cup 2RQ replay win over Sevenoaks behind them, will be looking to build on that and move on from the recent Hayes and Kings Lynn results

andy leeseManager Andy Leese commented:

We look forward to the visit of Cirencester. They have had a difficult start to the season with the manager leaving, but they always provide a stiff test.

We have one or two injury concerns that we will judge on the day as we look to get back on track in the league. We have to maximise our home games if we can and the players know they can improve on last weeks performances.

We need to improve all across the pitch and I'm confident we will start to do that. Look forward to seeing you all at The Meadow with the level of support we had in the cup matches!
