Ladies take league title

Sunday 14th April

Chesham United Ladies win South East Combination
Chesham United Ladies

Chesham United Ladies travelled to Cambridge today needing three points to ensure they could not be caught at the top of the South East Combination. A 1-0 win took the girls to 50 points, enough to claim the league title with four games remaining as second placed Ipswich Town have 37.

The Ladies are still undefeated in the league this season with a record of 16 wins and 2 draws. Next Sunday we are away at Brentwood and then have our final two home games in midweek at The Meadow against Enfield Town on Thursday 27th April and Luton Town on Wednesday 1st May. Please do come out to support the girls and give the recognition they deserve. The league title is expected to be presented at the Luton match.

The win brings the opportunity of promotion to the FA Women's Premier League.

In the women's game this puts Chesham United in the third level of the game nationally. The newly launched summer Women's Super League is the top tier with eight teams where clubs like Arsenal Ladies compete. The national division of the FA WPL is tier two with 10 teams and this then has a north and south division as tier three. So, depending on the make up of the league next season this could see Chesham United competing against the women's sides from clubs such as Tottenham, West Ham and QPR.
