Chesham had a useful work-out and a creditable draw. Wycombe don't run a reserve side so all their players were part of the first team squad, apart from a couple of trialists.

Midway through the first half there seemed little likelihood of a goal at either end, but suddenly there was a burst of four goals in eleven minutes. Simon Thomas' lay-off sent Ryan Blake away down the left and Blake shot past keeper Barry Richardson to give Chesham the lead. Six minutes later Mark Bell made it 2-0 with a fine solo goal, finishing past the advancing Richardson and inside the far post. In the next minute Simon Thomas controlled Ashley Smith's long ball and shot just wide. However on 34 minutes Hogan Ephraim's free kick was headed in by Sido Jombati to halve the deficit, then in the next minute Max Kretzschmar equalised with a 30-yard drive. Matt Bloomfield then advanced on goal only to shoot past the far post, then Junior Morias attempted to beat Shane Gore at his near post but Gore got down smartly to save.

As is common in these matches both sides made a number of substitutions in the second half. Wycombe looked more likely to score, Max Kretzschmar and Joe Jacobson both shooting powerfully but off target. Peter Murphy had a shot deflected past the post, then Paul Hayes netted after Shane Gore parried Hogan Ephraim's effort but was flagged offside. Gore then turned a shot from Ephraim past the post, but there was little action late on. An enjoyable evening was soured slightly late on, when Josh Cooper suffered severe bruising following a late challenge from Murphy who was rightly booked.
