Chesham continued their strong pre-season form with another big win over a side at the same level, although to be fair to the visitors they were not at full strength after playing another friendly the previous evening.

Chesham got off to a flying start with a goal in the fourth minute, Richard Howard netting with a deflected shot from the edge of the box after Phil Turner's effort had been blocked. The Wingate keeper then had to stretch to save at the feet of Dean Harding before Howard scored his second after 11 minutes, latching onto Dave Fotheringham's through ball and scoring with a low shot to the keeper's left. Chesham continued to look good but as the half wore on the visitors came more into the game, one player prodding the ball wide with only Andy Hall to beat, then the new keeper produced a fine flying save from a 35-yard shot after a corner was not properly cleared.

After 50 minutes it was 3-0 when Chesham won a free kick 25 yards out, Danny Talbot's shot lobbed up off the defensive wall and Danny Burnell stole in behind the wall to lift the ball over the keeper. The keeper then produced a fine save to tip away Burnell's close-range volley before Andy Keepence made it 4-0 on 57 minutes, heading in from close range from Michael Toner's right-wing cross. Chesham were in total command as the visitors tired and some despairing challenges would have resulted in a few yellow cards in a competitive game. Howard rounded off the scoring and completed his hat-trick after 71 minutes with a spectacular shot from 25 yards into the top corner. In the later stages Chesham were still in control but Wingate occasionally broke away and missed one great chance when putting a free header wide, but late in the game the Wingate keeper produced another fine save when Danny Burnell got on the end of Dom Masala's cross.
