Chesham went out of the Errea Cup to their groundsharers to a goal in the 96th minute after playing for an hour with ten men. Chesham made four changes to the starting line-up. Richard Hayward, who played for Chesham in pre-season before opting to return to Enfield Town, returned on loan after the injury to James Beasant, and Michael Sharman, Matt Skinner and Michael Toner came back into the team, which meant a return to 4-4-2 with Mark Lambert on the right, Toner on the left and Adam Parker pushed up front. John Lawford was on the bench having re-signed for the club on Saturday. Aylesbury included former Chesham men Kevin Mealor and Nick Leach plus Roni Joe on the bench, but the Steve Miles in their team was not the former Meadow man. The main incident of the first half was the sending off of Dave Fotheringham just after the half-hour, when he was guilty of a late challenge on Miles having been booked earlier for a second foul in quick succession. The referee generally had a dreadful game but this was one of the few decisions that nobody could really complain about. That apart, the half was almost totally uneventful until Chesham scored in the second minute of stoppage time thanks to a gift from Aylesbury keeper Jack Sillitoe whose poor clearance was headed back towards him, then in attempting to clear a second time he miskicked leaving Danny Burnell to roll the ball into the net from outside the penalty area. Following the sending-off Chesham withdrew Adam Parker into midfield and left Burnell on his own up front, and the second half was almost as dull as the first. Aylesbury are another big and physical side in a division that seems to be full of them, but their route one tactics made no impression in spite of Chesham's defence being given no protection from a series of muscular challenges. Midway through the half Aylesbury brought on Roni Joe and continued to bombard the Chesham defence with a series of long balls, but fifteen minutes from the end a rare Chesham breakaway saw Mark Lambert find Danny Burnell whose powerful shot was well saved by Sillitoe. However ten minutes from the end Aylesbury broke through when Sam Swonnell's corner was cleared back to him, and his cross back into the middle was headed in by Joe. Aylesbury began to play with greater urgency, perhaps due to the wish to avoid extra time, as the effect of playing with ten men began to tell on Chesham. Kevin Mealor hooked a shot wide, Nathan Graham's shot was saved by the legs of Hayward and Craig Henney shot across goal, but extra time was looming when Aylesbury scored the winner in the sixth minute of stoppage time. Another long punt into the area forced a corner which Nick Leach rose to head in at the near post.
