This was one of those= games when most people spent the aftermath talking about the performance of the m= atch officials rather than the players. <= /span>Harrow took the lead in the first half thanks to a = baffling decision by a linesman to award a penalty, then the referee evened things u= p by awarding Chesham a penalty for a trivial offence early in the second half.<= o:p>

With Nick Leach and C= hris Bangura kept out by the injuries sustained in last week’s win over Sutton Coldfield, Ollie Adedeji<= /span> and Darrell Cox returned to the starting line-up, while Danny Burnell was starting a three-match suspension. In the ninth minute Leon Archer ra= n on to Steve Wales’ pass on the left of the Harrow area and was being jos= tled by Wayne Walters as the ball went out of play – ironically this was t= he best claim for a penalty in the game but the referee gave nothing. Harrow’s hard-running and direct style was causing Chesham some problems and Jonathan Hunt cut inside from the right and fired in a shot that Richard Hayward did well to beat away.

In the eighteenth min= ute Harrow’s Kenta Nakashima cut in from the left, rounded Richard Hayward but took the ball wide of goal and Sam Ledger appea= red to win the ball with a clean tackle. However the linesman on the far side amazed everyone including the <= st1:place w:st=3D"on">Harrow players by signalling for a penalty which Ro= cky Baptiste put away.&n= bsp; Apart from that incident the game was largely a stalemate, although towards half-time Chesham came close twice. Firstly Danny Talbot’s shot = from the edge of the area was going wide but Leon Archer stuck out a foot and deflected it over the bar, then the best move of the half saw Steve Wales a= nd Darrell Cox combine to send Leon Archer clear but keeper Keita Karamoko blocked the resulting shot. Harrow came back and in stoppage time defender Charlie Wassne= r glanced a header wide from Hunt’s free kick.

At half-time everybod= y seemed to be asking the same question – ‘What was the penalty for?’. Two minutes into= the second half it was the same question but at the other end. Danny Talbot’s free kick int= o the area was headed out but the referee pointed to the spot, apparently for shirt-pulling but it seemed most likely that the referee was trying to bala= nce things out. Talbot ignored Karamoko’s gamesmanship and tucked the penalty away.&= nbsp; Shortly afterwards Leon Archer did well to get to the by-line and pu= ll the ball back but Michael Bardle’s shot w= as blocked, then Archer headed Danny Talbot’s corner goalwards, Darrell Cox dummied and Jonathan Hunt cleared off the line although some Chesham fans thought that the ball had crossed the line. Chesham had the majority of posses= sion although Harrow still looked dangerous o= n the break. Fifteen minutes = from time John Kyriacou crossed from the right but A= rcher could only head straight at Karamoko, but late = in the game Harrow came closer to winning it. Baptiste crossed low from the right to sub Jonathan Constant who could only turn the ball wide of the far post, a snap shot from Baptiste in a crowded area flew over the bar, and finally Constant crossed from the = left and Hunt missed a sitter when he slid in at the far post only to turn the b= all across goal and behind for a goal-kick.
