Hafed Al-Droubi 1 Martin Rice Chesham were denied three points by a last-minute equaliser from Tiverton’s Jamie Short, but in truth this was an uninspiring encounter that neither side deserved to win.

There were two changes following the midweek defeat by Banbury United, with Callum Bunting coming in for Shane Bush and Danny Green replacing Ty Ward. Chesham played with the wind in their favour in the first half, but the opening quarter was notable only for the lack of goalmouth action. However Chesham took the lead after 25 minutes, when a quick break from half-way from Oran Swales ended with a low drive into the corner of the net to the left of keeper Martin Rice. This stirred the game into life, and three minutes later Chesham’s defence failed to clear a Callum Hall corner and Michael Landricombe hooked the ball over from close range. Shortly afterwards Owen Howe set up Levi Landricombe for a shooting chance but Landricombe failed to get any power into his effort and Hafed Al-Droubi was able to save easily. At the other end Lewis Toomey pulled the ball back from the by-line to Jhai Dhillon, whose first shot was blocked and his second flew past the far post. Matt Bevans was then just off target with a snap shot after the ball was headed out to him on the edge of the area. As half-time drew near Ollie Knowles played the ball into the Chesham area towards Michael Landricombe but Jhai Dhillon was able to clear at the expense of a corner.

With the wind in their favour the visitors had more of the game in the second half, but neither side was able to string any passes together and the game became scrappy. Midway through the half Chesham had a great chance to double their advantage, when Alex Cathline sent Jon-Jo Bates clear but Bates could only mishit a shot wide after rounding the keeper. Tiverton resorted to using the wind to launch the ball long into the Chesham box, and the tactic nearly paid off two minutes from time when a long ball into the area dropped to Tom Bath but his weak shot was comfortably saved by Al-Droubi. However two minutes later another long ball was part-cleared, and Jamie Short’s angled drive flew across Hafed Al-Droubi and into the top corner of the net to earn Tiverton a draw.
