Hafed Al-Droubi
Danny Gay 1 Hafed Al-Droubi Chesham made a tame exit from the FA Cup at the second qualifying round stage. Against a team at the same level Chesham had more of the game in the opening half-hour, but the home side took the lead against the run of play and followed up with a second just after the interval.

The starting line-up was unchanged from Tuesday night’s win over Dunstable, Victor Osobu returning on the bench in place of Scott McGleish who was ineligible. Chesham took control of the game from the start against their hosts, who are mid-table in the Bostik League premier division. In the third minute Adam Watkins ran at the home defence and fired in a shot that was parried by home keeper Danny Gay, but apart from that effort Chesham had little to show for their early possession. In the twentieth minute Zack Reynolds broke forward and squared to Danny Green whose first-time shot was well saved by Gay. Shortly afterwards the home side came close when Gareth Heath’s corner was cleared as far as Luke Ingram, whose shot was tipped over by Hafed Al-Droubi. Apart from that Chesham were rarely troubled, but on the half-hour mark Callum Harrison ran through to the edge of the area and fired in a shot that found the bottom corner of the net to give the home side the lead. Chesham’s best chance of the half came shortly before half-time, when Adam Watkins sent David Hutton clear to stroke the ball past the advancing keeper but just wide of the right-hand post.

Early in the second half Chesham’s task was made even tougher after a Gareth Heath corner was cleared, Heath crossed the ball back in and Dan Morphew was left completely unmarked to head past Al-Droubi. With Chesham forced to push forward the home side began to find extra space, and Callum Harrison shot over from a dangerous position after a run forward by Darryl Coakley. Midway through the half a David Hutton free kick produced a diving save from Gay, then from the resulting corner Sam Nunn needlessly handled the ball in the area to concede a penalty. However Gay guessed correctly and dived to his left to save Callum Bunting’s kick. That was effectively Chesham’s last chance to get back in the game, and two minutes later Hafed Al-Droubi made a great save from Gareth Heath and John Sands blasted the loose ball over the bar from close range. Chesham came back and Gay produced a good save from a shot on the turn by Victor Osobu, then an Adam Watkins shot deflected off the head of Sam Nunn and away for a corner. Deep into stoppage time Chesham could have grabbed a consolation when Jhai Dhillon’s cross found the head of David Hutton but Gay saved.
