Hafed Al-Droubi 1 Kyle Phillips Chesham got back to winning ways with a comfortable victory over a Frome side who were above them in the league at the start of the game. Chesham took the lead in the third minute, were 3-0 up after 18 minutes and still managed two more despite easing up after half-time.

Benji Crilley and Matt Bevans returned after missing Saturday’s game through suspension, replacing Oran Swales and Jon-Jo Bates. Darren Locke also returned in place of Adam Pepera who has left the club. Chesham took the lead in the third minute in their first attack, Shane Bush turning in Jhai Dhillon’s cross at the near post. Eight minutes later it was 2-0 as Bush rose unmarked to head in a corner from Ravi Shamsi. Frome had their best moment of the half shortly afterwards when a long-range effort from Darren Jefferies was parried by Hafed Al-Droubi, but Chesham went straight to the other end and made it 3-0. Ravi Shamsi’s left-wing corner was cleared and the ball played back to him, and his cross found Benji Crilley whose header looped over keeper Phillips and into the net. Shortly afterwards a Frome clearance was blocked by Jhai Dhillon and the ball fell to Shane Bush who stabbed just wide. At the other end Chas Hemmings stuck out a foot and knocked a Jon Davies corner over the bar, but Chesham were well into their stride and could have doubled the score before half-time. One particularly fine move saw Jhai Dhillon exchange passes with Ravi Shamsi and set up Joe Iaciofano who poked the ball just wide of the near post. Joe Iaciofano ran at Sam Teale who brought the striker down, but Iaciofano carried on and crossed but Ravi Shamsi was denied at the far post. Shane Bush and Joe Iaciofano were both narrowly off target, then a shot on the turn from Adam Watkins just cleared the bar. As half-time approached Joe Iaciofano cut in from the left and fired in a shot that beat Phillips but came back off the bar.

With Chesham looking comfortable Darren Locke was rested for the second half, with Benji Crilley switching to the centre of defence and Zack Reynolds reverting to right back. The visitors had more of the ball in the second half, but Chesham were still looking the more dangerous. Shane Bush headed a Ravi Shamsi corner straight at Kyle Phillips, then Joe Iaciofano got round the back of the defence but Phillips blocked his cross-shot and saved Oran Swales’ follow-up. Midway through the half Frome’s Jake Jackson broke clear and slipped the ball past the advancing Hafed Al-Droubi, but Jhai Dhillon got back to clear off the line. Fifteen minutes from time Jon-Jo Bates’ shot and Shane Bush’s follow-up were both blocked, and from the resulting corner Phillips parried Jhai Dhillon’s effort. However Frome broke away and Jon Davies slipped the ball past the advancing keeper and into the net to reduce the arrears. Chesham went back on the attack and Phillips parried Joe Iaciofano’s shot, but Chesham kept up the pressure and a Shane Bush effort was touched into the net from close range by Joe Iaciofano to make it 4-1. Phillips then saved at the feet of Iaciofano and the ball came to Scott McGleish who shot just wide. Chesham played the last few minutes with ten men after Adam Watkins limped off, but still added a fifth goal four minutes from time. Phillips and Kris Miller hesitated over a clearance and Scott McGleish nipped in to roll the ball into the empty net. In stoppage time Frome looked for a consolation but Jake Jackson headed over from a Jon Davies corner, then a mix-up in the Chesham defence nearly let in Ben Griffiths but Hafed Al-Droubi got back to scoop the ball away.
