Hafed Al-Droubi 1 Ashley Jenkins Chesham advanced to the second round of the league cup with a comfortable win over their eastern division opponents.

Chesham made two changes with Jhai Dhillon injured and Darren Locke away, so Adam Pepera and Oran Swales came in. New signing Ahmed Elsahib made his debut as a second-half substitute. Chesham had the better of the early stages, and in the eleventh minute Oran Swales’ low cross from the left just eluded the onrushing Joe Iaciofano. The visitors had their best moment when Jeanmal Prosper sent Hafid Bounyafe away to side-foot past the post as Hafed Al-Droubi came out from his goal. Al-Droubi then had to be alert to hold on to a long-range effort from Kieron Schmidt after a corner was headed out. Chesham then came close on the half-hour mark when Oran Swales’ free kick flew just wide of the near post, then in the next minute Joe Iaciofano slid in to meet a low cross from Lewis Toomey but could only knock the ball over the bar. Iaciofano then chested down a cross from Oran Swales but keeper Ashley Jenkins dived on the ball, which was the last serious action of a quiet first half.

In the opening minute of the second half Lewis Toomey’s angled drive from wide on the left bounced off the body of Ashley Jenkins. Chesham were still looking the more likely to score but when it came their opening goal was something of a gift, Kerran Lataille needlessly tripping Oran Swales just inside the visitors’ penalty area. Lewis Toomey blasted home the resulting penalty. Shortly afterwards a scramble in the Chesham area ended with a hurried clearance to Kieron Schmidt, whose shot came through a crowd of players but Hafed Al-Droubi reacted sharply to save. Thirteen minutes from time Chesham effectively ended the contest with a second goal, when Oran Swales broke down the right and set up Adam Watkins for a low shot into the net from just inside the area. Shortly afterwards a corner from Ahmed Elsahib came straight to Joe Iaciofano, who appeared to use a hand to control the ball before turning and firing into the net from close range. Late in the game Anthony Ball came close to a consolation goal for Aylesbury, but his long-range effort just cleared the bar.
