Ashlee Jones 1 Tony Breeden Chesham went down to their fourth consecutive defeat and failed to score for the first time at home this season. Leamington showed little ambition in the first half, particularly after going down to ten men, and after scoring on the stroke of half-time frustrated a Chesham side who are now fifteen points off a play-off place.

Mat Mitchel-King returned after missing the last three matches, replacing Curtis Ujah who failed a late fitness test. Stephan Hamilton-Forbes replaced the suspended Adam Martin, while Barry Hayles was missing due to a family bereavement. The pattern of the game was set early on with neither side creating anything of note, although Ahmed Obeng worked a shooting chance with a neat turn in the Chesham area but shot well wide. The key moment of the game came on 32 minutes, when Drew Roberts broke clear only to be hauled back by James Mace. The first contact was outside the area but continued after Roberts had crossed the line, so the referee would have been justified in giving a penalty and showing a yellow card, but he awarded a free kick right on the edge and sent Mace off. Drew Roberts took the free kick himself and his shot beat keeper Tony Breeden but smacked against the crossbar. There had been a number of injuries which led to nine minutes of stoppage time, and in the final minute of the nine the visitors scored the only goal of the game. Courtney Baker-Richardson headed down a left-wing cross at the far post, and Jordan Goddard fired into the net from close range.

With a goal lead and a man short Leamington sat back and attempted to see the game out, and with Chesham looking short of confidence the second half was a non-event. Midway through the half a Toby Little free kick was headed out, and Sam Youngs’ first-time effort flew wide with the aid of a slight deflection. Shortly afterwards Chesham lost their man advantage when Brett Longden was shown a second yellow card. As the game went into stoppage time Oran Swales fired in a shot that came off the head of Jamie Hood and over the bar. Leamington had a chance of a second goal deep into stoppage time but sub Richard Gregory shot straight at Ashlee Jones.
