Xavi Comas 1 Ashlee Jones Chesham’s first-ever visit to Kings Langley resulted in a win that takes the side up to sixth in the table. Chesham dominated the first half and were good value for their 2-0 lead, but the second half was more of a struggle and Chesham were content to hold on after Lewis Toomey pulled one back for the home side.

There were four changes to the side, with Mat Mitchell-King making his debut in the centre of defence and Benji Crilley switching to right back in place of Brett Longden. Matt Taylor and Stephan Hamilton-Forbes replaced Sam Youngs and Bruce Wilson in midfield, and Brad Wadkins started in place of Ryan Blake up front. On a hot day and a hard pitch Chesham took control of the game from the off, and in the first minute Drew Roberts’ 30-yard free kick was turned round the post by keeper Xavi Comas. Dave Pearce took the resulting corner which was not cleared and Mat Mitchell-King shot over the bar. Chesham dominated the opening minutes and took the lead after 21 minutes, when Dave Pearce’s right-wing corner was headed back across goal by Mat Mitchell-King and Adam Martin scored his first goal for the club with a header in off the bar. Three minutes later the home side tried to play Drew Roberts and Brad Wadkins offside from a Benji Crilley through ball, but the flag stayed down and Wadkins lobbed Comas for Chesham’s second. Chesham continued to control the game and it was not until 38 minutes that Kings Langley managed their first shot, but Oran Swales’ effort was comfortably saved by Ashlee Jones.

The home side made a double substitution at half-time, but early in the second half Brad Wadkins headed a Dave Pearce free kick straight at Comas. However Kings Langley pushed Connor Toomey further forward and his angled drive was held by Ashlee Jones. On the hour mark Chesham’s defence hesitated over a loose ball, and Connor Toomey nipped in but Jones spread himself to block. With Chesham posing little threat the home side came close again, when Connor Toomey’s first-time shot from David Hutton’s corner was saved by Jones. Chesham seemed to have done enough when Kings Langley halved the deficit five minutes from time, when Emmanuel Folarin’s cross was controlled by Lewis Toomey who fired a shot into the net at the near post. However Chesham successfully took the sting out of the game and saw out time with no further alarms.
