Paul White 1 Ashlee Jones Chesham managed a second away win in five days with this victory over Kettering. Chesham stunned the home team with two early goals and could have been four up by half-time, and although the home side improved in the second half they rarely threatened to get back in the game.

Benji Crilley returned at full-back in place of the suspended Brett Longden, and Adam Martin came back after a two-game ban in place of Dave Pearce. Chesham soon looked capable of opening the home defence at will, and in the seventh minute Phil Roberts cut in from the left and fired in a shot that was parried by home keeper Paul White. In the next minute Kettering’s James Brighton went on a solo run that ended with a shot from the edge of the area that flew harmlessly wide. However four minutes later Chesham took the lead when Sam Youngs’ left-wing corner was touched on by Phil Roberts and the ball beat White at his near post. Two minutes later Roberts turned up on the right and squared the ball to Sam Youngs, who turned the ball in at the near post to make it 2-0. Chesham could have had a third in the next minute, when Ryan Blake dispossessed Brett Solkhon and broke clear only to shoot high and wide from the edge of the area. Kettering came back when Mat Mitchel-King was caught out by a long ball and Aaron O’Connor shot wide from just outside the area, then Liam Canavan fired in an angled drive that Ashlee Jones did well to hold on to in a crowded area. However on 30 minutes Sam Youngs found Ryan Blake in the penalty area, and Blake turned Liam Canavan who stuck out a leg and brought Blake down. Toby Little took the penalty but his kick hit the legs of White and rebounded away from goal. Chesham were still looking comfortable but suffered a setback when Mat Mitchel-King limped off before half-time, to be replaced by Stephan Hamilton-Forbes with Benji Crilley moving to the centre and Matt Taylor switching to right-back.

Kettering made a double substitution at half-time, and had more of the game as Chesham concentrated on holding their lead. Eight minutes after the restart a shot from Aaron O’Connor was saved by the legs of Ashlee Jones, but otherwise Chesham were looking comfortable. However on 66 minutes Jack Kelly crossed the ball into the Chesham box, the ball ran loose and Rene Howe pounced to halve the deficit, Ashlee Jones earning a yellow card for holding onto the ball after picking it out of the net. Still the home side pushed forward but to little effect, while Chesham occasionally looked dangerous on the counter-attack. On 77 minutes Toby Little got to the by-line and pulled the ball back, Ryan Blake helped it on and Barry Hayles slid in but could only lift the ball over the bar. As Kettering pushed forward late on Phil Roberts broke away down the left, and cut inside onto his right foot but shot over the bar. Five minutes into stoppage time Ryan Blake was left all alone to run clear from his own half, only to be crudely brought down by Paul White thirty yards out. White was sent off, Liam Bateman went in goal and Ryan Blake limped off to be replaced by Dave Pearce. Chesham took the free kick and Sam Youngs was about to break clear and take on the stand-in goalkeeper when the referee blew the final whistle.
