Matt Nolan 1 George Legg Chesham went out of the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup after a disastrous first half against Hungerford which saw them turn around 4-0 down.

Brett Longden and Dave Pearce were ruled out by injury, Ashlee Jones and Mat Mitchel-King were rested and Matt Taylor and Barry Hayles were on to the bench. Hungerford were quicker off the mark but made little of their possession until the eighteenth minute, when Ian Herring found Mammy Williams whose angled drive from the visitors’ left flew just over. Two minutes later the visitors were awarded a free kick near the by-line on the left of the penalty area, and Louie Soares’ kick flew across the goal and into the far corner of the net with Matt Day claiming a touch at the near post. Chesham then had their best spell of the game, and from Sam Youngs’ free kick Brad Wadkins had a header saved by George Legg and Drew Roberts could only turn the loose ball against a post. Sam Youngs’ corner was flicked on by Darren Purse at the near post but Legg stretched to tip the ball over. Legg again excelled to tip over a header from Adam Martin but the flag was already up for offside. However on 26 minutes Soares was left unmarked to tap in from a right-wing cross to put Hungerford 2-0 up. On 34 minutes Soares made it 3-0 with a free kick from a similar position to the first goal, although this time the ball went straight in. Matt Nolan then made a double save to deny Soares, but shortly before half-time Chesham lost possession 30 yards out and Stefan Brown ran clear to slot the ball past Matt Nolan.

With the game over as a contest the second half resembled a practice match. Six minutes after the restart Taylor McKenzie headed goalwards from Sam Youngs’ corner but Scott Rees headed off the line. Just after the hour mark Toby Little’s cross eluded everyone and Brad Wadkins tapped in at the far post to reduce the arrears. There was little action at either end until 84 minutes, when another long cross from Toby Little flew beyond the far post where Sam Youngs stole in to head past Legg. However Hungerford score the game’s final goal two minutes later, when Matt Nolan parried Harry Goodger’s shot but Louie Soares turned in the loose ball from close range. Late in the game Drew Roberts shot over from Benji Crilley’s pull-back, then Sam Youngs glanced a header wide from Benji Crilley’s cross.
