Louis Wells 1 Ashlee Jones Chesham went down to a second defeat in four days against struggling Hayes & Yeading. After dominating the game early on Chesham conceded against the run of play, and thereafter the game became an exercise in frustration as the home side killed the game and Chesham’s play became more and more desperate.

Once again Chesham were unchanged. Chesham took control of the game from the start and in the seventh minute Dave Pearce crossed low from the left to Drew Roberts who sliced the ball wide from close range. Another Pearce cross was just too high from Roberts, then Roberts seized on a mishit clearance from Harold Joseph and a fired in a shot that home keeper Louis Wells tipped over. However Hayes scored the only goal of the game on the half-hour, when Sam Humphreys ran to the by-line and crossed for Melford Simpson to head in from close range. Chesham came back with Sam Youngs shooting over the bar, then Darren Purse was held in the penalty area as he went to challenge for a Sam Youngs free kick but nothing was given.

Early in the second half Brad Wadkins sent Drew Roberts clear to side-foot past Wells, but also wide of the far post. Wells then tipped away a Dave Pearce corner to Darren Purse who chested down then volleyed over. The home side showed little attacking ambition, but on the hour Adam Everitt worked a shooting chance only to fire well wide. Five minutes later Dave Pearce crossed from the left and the ball was scrambled over the line but the linesman had his flag up for pushing. Chesham continued to push forward although without the fluency of the opening half-hour, and a Dave Pearce shot was headed away by Adam Everitt for another corner. At the other end Everitt’s shot was saved by Ashlee Jones and the loose ball hacked to safety, but otherwise the home side were content to waste time at every opportunity. Late in the game Benji Crilley seized on a loose ball and shot past the far post, then in stoppage time Brad Wadkins fed Dave Pearce whose effort was stopped on the line.
