Man Of The Match
Drew Roberts
Ashlee Jones 1 Shane Murphy Chesham made it two home wins out of two against a Dorchester side without a point or a goal after three games. Chesham were always in control after Drew Roberts’ opener, and wrapped up the game shortly after half-time.

Chesham’s starting line-up was unchanged, George Fenton returning on the bench in place of Kelvin Bossman who has left the club. The visitors enjoyed a fair share of possession early on, but Chesham were the first to threaten when Ryan Blake’s shot was shovelled away for a corner by keeper Shane Murphy. In the next minute a long throw from Benji Crilley was headed on by Sam Youngs and Blake beat Murphy to the ball but could only head over. However Chesham continued to push forward and took the lead on 21 minutes. A left-wing move saw Toby Little’s cross elude the Dorchester defence, and Drew Roberts scored his first goal since returning to the club with a shot into the far top corner of the net. On the half-hour Dorchester had their only noteworthy effort on goal of the afternoon, Tony Lee driving over the bar from wide on the right after an exchange of passes with Ben Wood. Chesham were otherwise untroubled and doubled their lead on 39 minutes, Drew Roberts and Dave Pearce combining on the left before Pearce’s cross was headed in by Sam Youngs at the far post. Two minutes later Ryan Blake broke away down the left and tried to set up Bruce Wilson, but Murphy just got to the ball first and hacked clear.

Early in the second half Murphy saved at the feet of Drew Roberts, but in the next minute Roberts scored Chesham’s third, scoring at the second attempt from Toby Little’s cross. With the points in the bag Chesham eased off but still liked the more likely to score. Midway through the half Roberts shot across goal from Ryan Blake’s pass, then Brad Wadkins replaced Blake and immediately sent Roberts clear to shoot past Murphy but the ball came back off the post. Late in the game Matt Taylor got round the back of the Dorchester defence and pulled the ball back, but Dave Pearce could not convert at the near post. Toby Little then pulled the ball back from the by-line on the left, and Matt Oldring slid in to block Dave Pearce’s shot and was relieved to see the ball go just wide of the near post. Pearce took the resulting corner and Darren Purse headed narrowly over, then deep in stoppage time another Pearce corner was headed just over by Adam Martin.
