Shane Murphy 1 Ashlee Jones Chesham went down to their third successive away defeat. Already short of a number of regulars, Chesham lost three players to injury before the hour mark yet still seemed to have done enough to earn a point before Dorchester scored a fortunate late winner.

With Adam Martin suspended, Brad Wadkins away and Matt Taylor unwell, Chesham were down on numbers and could name only four substitutes. Ashlee Jones returned in goal, Bruce Wilson was back in midfield and Barry Hayles started up front. Chesham took an early lead when a left-wing corner from Dave Pearce was cleared as far as Sam Youngs, who fired the ball across goal and Darren Purse diverted it into the corner of the net for his first goal for the club. The remainder of the half was fairly even with Dorchester only occasionally looking threatening. Tom Blair fired a shot across goal, Blair fed Jake Smeeton whose shot was blocked at the expense of a corner, then Ollie Bassett fired in a shot that Ashlee Jones spread himself to save. On the half-hour Toby Little was forced to go off injured with Bruce Wilson reverting to left-back. Late in the half Barry Hayles headed wide of the near post and home keeper Shane Murphy dropped a Dave Pearce corner but the loose ball just eluded Barry Hayles. In the fifth minute of stoppage time Ashlee Jones tipped over a shot from Nathan Walker.

Jones was already struggling after treatment for a knee injury and was forced to go off at half-time to be replaced by Matt Nolan. However Chesham started well with Ryan Blake finding Drew Roberts who shot past the far post in the opening minute of the half. In the next minute the referee gave the home side a penalty for pushing at a corner and Jake Smeeton scored. Chesham continued to look dangerous and in the next minute Barry Hayles shot over after a run to the edge of the penalty area, but Dorchester then took the lead when Franklyn Clarke’s ball into the area eluded everyone and crept into the corner of the net. Chesham came back with Drew Roberts heading the ball down to Sam Youngs whose shot was blocked at the expense of a corner. Chesham were then forced to reshuffle again when Stephan Hamilton-Forbes limped off to be replaced by Taylor McKenzie, who slotted into the centre of defence with Mat Mitchel-King moving forward into midfield. Jake Smeeton then shot across goal after the Chesham defence failed to deal with a throw-in, but at the other end Drew Roberts raced clear of the home defence only to be tripped by Mark Jermyn as he prepared to take on the keeper. Jermyn was booked and Roberts equalised from the spot. As the game went on Chesham looked the more likely to win it, Drew Roberts having a shot deflected over and Sam Youngs firing over the bar after the home defence failed to clear a Dave Pearce corner. Nine minutes from time Dave Pearce’s crossfield pass picked out Barry Hayles, who worked the ball onto his left foot and curled a shot just wide of the far post. Five minutes later Drew Roberts’ 30-yard free kick was spectacularly tipped over by Shane Murphy. However in stoppage time the home team broke away, Ollie Bassett won two 50-50 challenges and scored the winner with a shot that took a huge deflection to beat Matt Nolan.
