Jack Brooker 1 Matt Nolan Chesham were able to rest a few players for this Berks & Bucks Senior Cup tie, yet still emerged with a win that was every bit as comfortable as the scoreline suggests.

Ashlee Jones and Bruce Wilson were not risked because of injury, and four others who started in Saturday’s FA Cup tie were on the bench. Aylesbury’s best moment of the game came in the sixth minute when Matt Nolan saved at the feet of Ty Deacon, and the ball came to Dave Carty whose shot from outside the area came back off the bar. However the rest of the game was dominated by Chesham, and in the seventh minute Sam Youngs set up Dave Pearce whose first-time shot flew wide from 15 yards. Midway through the half a quickly-taken free kick led to Dave Pearce crossing to Barry Hayles, whose first effort was saved by keeper Jack Brooker and the follow-up was wide of the goal. As Chesham took complete control Ryan Blake rounded Brooker and side-footed towards an empty net but Jordan Jenkins got back to clear off the line. In the next minute Barry Hayles had a shot saved by Brooker, Ryan Blake’s follow-up was blocked and Sam Youngs shot just wide. In the next attack Matt Taylor’s cross came to Sam Youngs whose shot bounced up to be tipped over the bar by Brooker. Eventually Chesham broke through thanks to an error by Brooker, who tried to push Benji Crilley out of his way after a corner had been cleared. The referee spotted the incident and gave a penalty which Dave Pearce converted. The Chesham pressure continued and Barry Hayles squared to Taylor McKenzie whose effort came back off the post. The half ended with a Chesham short corner which led to Sam Youngs having a shot blocked and a follow-up effort which flew just over.

Six minutes after the restart Chesham doubled their lead, when Dave Pearce crossed back into the area after a corner had been cleared and Jack Brooker allowed the ball to pass under his body and into the net. Pearce then had a shot deflected behind after good work by Benji Crilley, then Sam Youngs shot just over following a quick free kick. It was still all Chesham and Ryan Blake’s shot was saved by Brooker, then Brooker tipped another Blake shot over the bar. Benji Crilley’s long throw found Barry Hayles whose shot was blocked at the expense of a corner, which was cleared to Darren Purse whose dipping shot was just over. On 73 minutes a neat move down the right led to a mishit shot from Stephan Hamilton-Forbes, but the ball fell into the path of Drew Roberts who found the net between Brooker and his near post. Three minutes later Ryan Blake made it 4-0 with a dipping shot after cutting in from the left. Late in the game Drew Roberts had a shot deflected just wide, then in stoppage time Roberts cut in from the left and set up Dave Pearce who completed his hat-trick with a shot across Brooker and inside the far post.
