Jason Matthews 1 Shane Gore Chesham secured their first away points since Boxing Day with a fine win at Weymouth. Chesham took control of the game early on and withstood some second-half pressure from the home side before clinching the game with two late goals.

Ashley Smith returned to the side as right wing-back, with Joe Gater switching to the centre of defence alongside George Fenton and Curtis Ujah as Chesham reverted to the preferred option of three central defenders. Kabongo Tshimanga, who played for MK Dons against Chesham five weeks ago, started up front after signing on loan earlier in the day. Weymouth would have gone back into the play-off zone with a win and made a positive start to the game. Adam Kelly crossed from the left to Ben Thomson whose shot was parried by Shane Gore, who also blocked the follow-up before Stewart Yetton’s shot hit a team-mate and flew wide. Two minutes later Gore again came to Chesham’s rescue when a slip allowed Yetton to break clear, but the keeper spread himself to block. However it was Chesham who scored the game’s opening goal in the ninth minute, when Dave Pearce’s right-wing corner was headed in at the far post by Joe Gater. Chesham began to grow in confidence and home keeper Jason Matthews rushed from his goal to clear, but was beaten to the ball by Kabongo Tshimanga whose attempted lob towards the empty net was deflected just wide. Weymouth began to look short of ideas and Chesham scored a second goal shortly before half-time, when Matt Taylor’s long throw was not cleared by the home defence and Curtis Ujah shot home from ten yards.

Early in the second half a shot from Stewart Yetton was deflected wide of the Chesham goal, then two minutes later a George Rigg corner was headed over by Dean Evans. On 56 minutes a long cross from the right from Adam Kelly was headed in at the far post by Ben Thomson to halve the deficit. The crowd began to lift the home team, and Ashley Wells cut in from the right to the edge of the penalty area but shot just wide. However Chesham saw off the threat and the home team rarely threatened, apart from a run from George Rigg on 72 minutes that ended with another fine save from Shane Gore. Chesham began to pose a threat on the break and scored the decisive goal on 78 minutes. Sam Youngs took a free kick from wide on the left, Barry Hayles challenged at the near post and the ball fell to Kelvin Bossman who shot just inside the near post with the aid of a slight deflection. Weymouth looked a beaten side and Chesham duly wrapped up the points with a fourth goal, when a quick ball forward led to a two-on-one and Ryan Blake drew the defender before setting up Barry Hayles who stroked the ball home from just inside the area. Late in the game Weymouth looked for a consolation but Stewart Yetton headed a good chance wide and Sam Surridge curled a shot high and wide from inside the area.
