Shane Gore 1 Alexander Street Chesham made it eight games unbeaten as two first-half goals put them in command against visiting King’s Lynn, after which Chesham never looked like being caught although it needed a missed penalty and a couple of fine saves from Shane Gore to seal the win.

Chesham’s starting line-up was unchanged for the third game running. In the third minute Toby Little crossed low from the left, Barry Hayles challenged keeper Alexander Street and the ball bounced off Hayles and went just wide of the near post. In a tentative opening Dave Pearce fired across goal from wide on the left, then at the other end a shot from Liam Hurst was comfortably saved by Shane Gore. Chesham took the lead shortly before the half-hour mark, when Ryan Blake pulled the ball back from the right and Dave Pearce’s sweetly-struck first-time shot found the net just inside the post. The visitors attempted to come back but Lee Stevenson fired over the bar from Matthew Castellan’s knock-down, then Castellan had a free header at the far post from Ryan Fryatt’s corner but failed to make contact. However Chesham’s finishing was more clinical and they scored the crucial second two minutes later. Toby Little and Dave Pearce combined down the left, Pearce crossed and Ryan Blake nipped in at the near post to score. As half-time approached Shane Gore tipped a John Sands shot round the post, then at the other end Sam Youngs worked himself a shooting chance but Street parried.

Early in the second half Jordan Yong’s angled drive was turned behind by Shane Gore, then the visitors won a penalty when John Sands was tripped but Liam Hurst’s kick was comfortably saved by Gore. The only other time the visitors came close was on 65 minutes, when Sam Mulready hooked a Liam Hurst cross goalwards but Shane Gore dived to turn the ball over. After that they looked like a beaten side and Chesham came closer to scoring late on, when Kelvin Bossman’s back-heel found Ryan Blake whose shot took a deflection and flew just over.
