Shane Gore 1 Josh Langley Chesham’s midweek win over Dunstable soon became a distant memory as the team went down at home against a Cirencester team just above them in the table. On a windy afternoon Chesham looked in a good position to take advantage after playing against the wind in the first half, but failed to make any headway after the interval and the visitors scored three goals on the break.

The only change to the team saw Stephan Hamilton-Forbes start in midfield in place of Adam Martin who was kept out by the knee injury sustained on Tuesday. The first half was relatively quiet as the visitors played with the wind in their favour. After five minutes Charlie Griffin’s long-range effort produced a smart save by Shane Gore low to his right. Midway through the half Chesham had their best moment when Ryan Blake ran on to fire in a shot that keeper Josh Langley parried but could not hold and Shayne Anson got back to clear off the line. However Chesham faded and another long-range effort from Griffin was tipped round the post by Shane Gore. In the last minute of the half Ross Langworthy squared from the right to Ollie Knight at the far post, but Knight’s effort was cleared off the line by Joe Gater.

Chesham seemed poised to take advantage of the wind in the second half, but in the opening minute the visitors broke down the left and Charlie Griffin seemed sure to score at the far post, but a combination of Chesham’s defence and the woodwork somehow kept him out. Chesham failed to make any headway against the visitors’ defence, and Cirencester had the next chance after 65 minutes when Langworthy shot from the far post from an Ollie Knight corner but Shane Gore got down to save. Otherwise there seemed little prospect of a goal at either end, but on 72 minutes Ross Langworthy seized on Shayne Anson’s long clearance and curled in a shot from the left edge of the penalty area giving Gore no chance. Eight minutes later a similar break by sub Zack Kotwica set up Ollie Knight whose shot from wide on the left also found the far top corner of the net. Late in the game Kotwica’s shot from the edge of the area was parried by Gore, then after 89 minutes Sam Youngs’ free kick into the visitors’ area was touched on and prodded over the line by Curtis Ujah. However any hopes of a late Chesham revival were snuffed out when Cirencester broke away, Kotwica was brought down by Joe Gater and Brad Hooper tucked away the penalty to round off the scoring.
